The first new-generation Windey WD200-7700 wind turbine, which is tailored for 60Hz power grids in international markets, had a successful start-up and stable operation in Saudi Arabia’s wind farm recently, a significant milestone for Windey Energy Technology Group in the Middle East. It not only marks a key technical progress for the project, but also signifies that green power from China has been officially pumped into Saudi Arabia's renewable energy pipeline, which represents a crucial leap from equipment export to technological demonstration in the high-end Middle Eastern market.

The WD200-7700 turbine is an ultra-high-capacity wind turbine customized for complex environments and power grid conditions. It adopts targeted designs to withstand the hard and complicated climate and environment of the region - using special wear-resistant materials to protect key components against wind and sand erosion, while reinforcing the ventilation system by multiple filtration gears to ensure continuous and reliable operation during sandstorms. Additionally, an upgraded thermal management system significantly optimizes the turbine’s environmental adaptability and operational stability under extreme high-temperature.

The powerful hardware system enables the turbine to overcome grid connection and operation limitations. It has an exceptionally wide short-circuit ratio operating range, supports large-angle voltage phase jumps, and are able to provide strong grid support for countries with complex power grid conditions worldwide.

It’s Windey’s first project in Saudi Arabia that completed turbine delivery. The wind farm has a planned capacity of 1.1GW with 147 7.7MW wind turbines. Windey’s team closely collaborated with local partners in strict adherence to Saudi Arabian’s grid standards, and efficiently coordinated throughout all implementation stages including installation, commissioning, and grid connection. The smooth operation of the first turbine laid a solid foundation for the connection of the remaining units and the overall operation of the project. Once completed, the project will significantly support Saudi Arabia’s endeavor to optimize its energy mix and elevate clean power supply.

This milestone not only sets a new benchmark for Windey's capacity in overseas projects, but also provides great momentum to its progress in the Middle East market and the global energy transition. Windey will continue on the path of innovation and global participation to provide better renewable energy equipments and systematic solutions, fulfilling its commitment to the global cause of clean energy and climate governance.
